The MX-5200 Powerhouse Power Supply: The MX-5200 Soldering, Desoldering, and Rework Series boasts power and process control, with dual-simultaneous ports for two users or a single user with dual applications.

  • A built-in Net Power Meter displays a graphical and numerical representation of the power applied to the cartridge.

  • User Programmable Power Save Mode: the time to enter Power Save Mode is adjustable from 10 to 120 minutes.

  • Ground Fault Interrupt: AC ground monitor detects power line ground failures and immediately alerts the operator and shuts down the system.

  • Universal Power Supply: automatically senses the input line voltage and adjusts accordingly, which allows for worldwide operation without adaptors or a change in performance.

  • Full compatibility with existing and previous MX upgrade kits, tip-cartridges, handpieces, and accessories.

The CV-5200

The CV-5200 Power Supply has the power and performance of the classic MX-5200, and Metcal's breakthrough Connection Validation™ technology.

The intermetallic compound thickness is critical in the formation of a solder joint. Connection Validation™ (CV) evaluates the quality of the solder joint by calculating the intermetallic compound formation and provides closed-loop feedback to the operator. CV provides feedback to the operator via the LED light ring integrated into the handpiece. It takes the risk associated with the variables involved in the soldering activity and removes the success and failure determination of a good solder joint out of the hands of the operator.

CV complements the skill of the operator to judge the quality of a solder joint by introducing an objective method of evaluating solder joint quality. This systemic and objective approach provides repeatability and a measurable standard for the soldering process.

Metcal's MX Series Soldering Systems use SmartHeattm  fixed temperature technology to ensure fast and accurate heating during any application.brain-pcb-icon-1

Our cartridges are designed for use at a single, pre-determined temperature. The temperatures are chosen based on common, industrial manufacturing applications, and the properties of solder and its reaction to various temperatures. The temperature of the cartridge tip is maintained by SmartHeat's combination of inductive heating and the science of metalurgy, so that the temperature of each is fixed at the molecular level.

MicroFine Cartridges are available at three temperatures:

600 Series 675 °F 357 °C  For temperature-sensitive applications
700 Series 775 °F 413 °C  For most general applications
800 Series 875 °F 468 °C  For thermally demanding applications
